National Honor Society Members Help Move MACF Office

National Honor Society members Matt Price (back), Lindsay Bellaw, Ben Leahy, Joe Farrish, Ryan Leahy, and Brad Hunt helped the Monroe Area Community Foundation move to 60B American Way. Situated between Route 63 and Lebanon Street, the office was relocated on March 14, 2009. Also helping with the move were Jane and Glen Majors, Pam and Rob Kilburn, Gloria Miltenberger, Elbert Tannreuther, Gina Miltenberger, and Ron Tubbs.
As part of their community service requirements, NHS members also partnered with the foundation to help man its Christmas on the Plaza booth. Formed in 1997, the MACF's mission is to enhance the welfare of individuals and groups in the Monroe area. It does this through invested donations, which it then uses to make charitable and civic contributions. Previously granted monies have gone to Monroe Lending Library, Monroe Local Schools Saturday Safari programs, Mount Pleasant Retirement Village carillon, Hornet Haven fencing, Summer Youth Theatre, Mount Pleasant Village Ringers, Monroe Historical Society, and Whispering Oaks playground equipment. In addition, each year the Monroe Area Community Foundation grants scholarships at the Senior Awards Assembly to qualifying seniors at Monroe Local Schools.
