Each year, the Monroe Area Community Foundation presents several scholarships to qualifying graduating seniors at Monroe Local Schools The MACF does so by utilizing trusts, memorial gifts and designated contributions to build individual funds to make the monies available. This year, the foundation awarded scholarships to the following recipients.

WALTER L. BAKE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP awarded to a senior who maintained an excellent academic standing while participating in a varsity sport and working part-time.
Recipient:  Joseph Farrish plans to major in physical therapy or pre-med at Ohio Dominican.
Presenter: Thomas Bake, son of Walter Bake
Award:  $500, paid to the college

DR. JAMES AND BERTHA ANDERSON FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP awarded to a senior planning to major in a medical field.
Recipient:  Benjamin Leahy  plans to major in pre-med at Centre College.
Presenter: Jane Majors, Scholarship Chairman
Award: $1,000 paid to the college

DR. JAMES A. MACREADY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP awarded to a senior planning to major in a medical field
Recipient:  Rachel Klaiber plans to major in nursing at Eastern Kentucky University. 
Presenter: John Singleton, MACF Executive Director
Award: $1,000 paid to the College

TODD E. MILTENBERGER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP awarded to a senior planning to major in Business/Education
Recipient:  Brad T. Hunt plans to major in business and education at Centre College. 
Presenter: Karl Gaston
Award: $250 Paid to the College

LEE ANN MILTENBERGER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP given to a senior who has excelled in areas of video, photography, and drama production.
Recipient:  Natalie Snively plans to major in telecommunications at Ball State University.
LEE ANN MILTENBERGER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP given to a senior who has excelled in vocal music.
Recipient:  Corinne Minor plans to major in music at Western Carolina University.
Presenters: Karen and Tim Williams
Award: $300 each paid to the colleges

JANINE WESTERCAMP MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP given in memory of Janine Westercamp, Monroe Class of 1975, to a senior majoring in Education, Family Services, or Social Services
Recipient:  Jake Essig plans to major in education at Huntington College of Indiana.
Presenter: Barbara W. Stumpf, Janine’s Sister
Award: $250 paid to the college

MONTE R. MILTENBERGER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP given in memory of Monte Miltenberger, Monroe Class of 1974, to a senior going on to trade school or an apprenticeship program.
Recipient:  Cameron Arnett plans to attend Sinclair College and major in x-ray technology.
Presenters: Gina, Alex and Ryan Miltenberger, widow and sons
Award: $250 Paid to the College

NANCY CAHILL "GIGGLES" MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP awarded to two seniors from the Monroe Area Community Foundation in memory of Nancy Cahill.
Recipients:  Hilary Pierce plans to major in radiology at The Ohio State University.  Rachel Williams plans to attend The Ohio State University and major in business/psychology.
Presenters: Beth and Julia Cahill, daughters of Nancy Cahill
Award: $250 each, paid to the colleges

RICHARD L. MILTENBERGER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP, $500
